How to install FDI

iPhone (Safari) Open Safari (only Safari works for this): Go to the full URL of your FDI website (e.g., http://crrfpa.co.za/weather/fdi/). Tap the Share icon: It's the square with the arrow pointing up (bottom of the screen on most iPhones). Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”. Customize the name if needed, then tap “Add”.

✅ The FDI icon will now appear on the iPhone home screen like an app.

Android (Chrome or Edge)

Open Chrome (or Edge) and visit the FDI site (e.g., http://crrfpa.co.za/weather/fdi/). Wait a few seconds — you may get a prompt like: “Add Fire Danger Index to Home screen?” If so, tap Add. If no prompt shows, tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner. Tap “Add to Home screen”. Confirm the icon name and tap Add.

✅ The icon now launches the site in full-screen mode like an app.

How to read the FDI The FDI app calculates the average FDI, for the area where the sensor is placed, every hour on the hour. Current data is sent from the sensor every ten (10) minutes.
The top bar of the FDI app will show the colour of the FDI for the last hour for the selected station.
The first table shows the actual FDI information.
The next table shows the latest reading. The data field will cgange colour id the reading is bejond the allowable safe range. I.E. if the temp is above 20 it wil show an danger icon and turn the field red. Same with wind speed above 15Km/h and gusting above 20km/h.
The third tableshow the grahs of the readings for the last hour and the last table shoe the graphs for the readings of the last twelve (12) hours.
